After high school, Cole and Lindsey went to college, pursuing their dreams. It wasn’t until five years later, at their Truman High School Class of 2003 Reunion, that they crossed paths again. They chatted and even took some celebratory photos together. It was a fun night that ended with everyone saying “see you next reunion!” After that night, nine months went by before they went on their first date. When Cole saw Lindsey's Facebook status changed from ‘In a relationship’ to ‘Single’ he sent her a message – “single, huh? Wanna go on a date?” Well, how could a girl say “No” to that?! So, their first date was at Ponak’s restaurant on Southwest Boulevard. "Little did I know how much he loved Mexican and how much we would eat during our time together! We dated for about four months, then decided to take a break. Over the next year, we both did our own thing; we focused on our careers, enjoyed time with our friends, and just had fun being young adults with limited responsibilities."
When the Chiefs finally made a playoff game (January, 2011) they reconnected. They are both huge Chiefs fans . . . "KC Wolf came to our wedding!" Cole picked up Lindsey to go to the Playoff Pep Rally at the Power and Light District to cheer on the Chiefs. Before daylight the next morning, they were dressed in layers and headed to a tailgate party for the playoff game. It was short-lived because in true Chiefs fashion, they lost their first playoff game.
"From that weekend on, we were inseparable. We began talking about what we wanted for our future: careers, marriage, kids, traveling, etc. I knew this was the man I would spend the rest of my life with. We loved each other and respected each other. We challenged each other to be better. He inspired me with his love for education and his students. We didn’t want anyone else."
"We continue to focus on each other to keep our marriage strong and we always remember why we fell in love in the first place. We practice love and respect daily in our marriage."
They had a beautiful wedding and they're so very happy!
They're expecting their first child . . . a son!
